POINT

The Ultimate Rover Mini: the Mini Knightsbridge

Rover Mini Knightsbridge. Released in 2000 as part of the “Last Mini” series, limited to just 200 units in Europe as the final Classic Mini, this was the top-of-the-line model alongside the Seven, Cooper, and Cooper Sport.

It was never officially imported to Japan and was available only in European specification, making it a rare model that can only be obtained through parallel import.

Its greatest appeal is the refined interior worthy of the Knightsbridge name. The luxurious cabin, featuring a rosewood dashboard and six-gauge instrument cluster, gives it a special feel that sets it apart from other Minis.

Factory-Option Electric Canvas Top with an Excellent Open-Air Feel

This car is equipped with the electric canvas top that was available as a factory option when new. The roof opens at the touch of a switch, letting you enjoy the breeze and an open-air feeling similar to a convertible.
Because relatively few cars were fitted with this option, it is highly rare. Combined with the refined interior, it makes this a truly special Mini.

A Special-Edition Model Supplied with a Moulton APB, Created by the Same Designer Behind the Mini’s Suspension

This car comes as a set with the Moulton APB, a renowned British bicycle designed by Dr. Alex Moulton, who was responsible for the Mini’s suspension.
With small-diameter wheels, front and rear suspension, and a separable space frame, it is a bicycle that pairs perfectly with the Mini.

Moulton Storage in the Passenger Seat Area

One of the most distinctive features of this collaboration model with LAPITA magazine is that the passenger seat can be removed, and a dedicated bracket is provided to secure the Moulton bicycle in place.
When the Moulton is not being carried, the original Knightsbridge seat can be installed.

Cooling System

Common to all vehicles

Updated to an enhanced cooling-system specification using carefully selected, high-quality Japanese-made parts

Cooling-system components are easily affected by heat and age-related deterioration. When they deteriorate, they can cause coolant leaks, rising coolant temperatures, and overheating. By replacing and adjusting the relevant parts, we restore proper coolant circulation and temperature control.

The Rover Mini was born in the UK, and in Japan’s hot and humid climate the cooling system is placed under greater stress, making overheating more likely. For this reason, Classca upgrades the system using carefully selected Japanese-made parts. We replace consumable parts such as the three-core radiator and improved or newly developed hoses.

In addition, the original electric fan thermo switch can operate inconsistently, so it is replaced with a Japanese-made sensor. This enables stable control, activating at approximately 92°C to 95°C and stopping at around 87°C. By keeping coolant temperature consistent, it helps maintain stable driving even in summer.

The cooling fan blade is also replaced with a reinforced, thicker type, as the original blade is thin and prone to deformation from heat. This improves the stability of cooling efficiency.

Exhaust System

Exhaust-system components are easily affected by high temperatures, vibration, and age-related deterioration. When they deteriorate, they can cause exhaust leaks, abnormal noise, and reduced exhaust efficiency. We check the condition of the muffler, pipes, gaskets, and mounting parts, replacing worn components to restore proper exhaust flow and sealing.

On this vehicle, the muffler will be replaced. Corrosion and internal deterioration can affect exhaust sound and performance, so replacement restores both exhaust flow and silencing performance.

Suspension

Lower arm bushes
The lower arm bushes will be replaced. Deteriorated lower arm bushes can cause looseness in the suspension, abnormal noise, and reduced driving stability. By removing the aged rubber bushes and replacing them with new ones, suspension movement is stabilized.
Tension rod bushes
The tension rod bushes will be replaced. When tension rod bushes deteriorate, the car can feel unstable under braking and straight-line stability can decline. Replacing the old rubber parts with new ones keeps front-to-rear movement properly controlled.
Radius arm bushes + 2 bearings
The radius arm bushes and bearings will be replaced. When the internal wear parts deteriorate, arm movement becomes poor and ride comfort and stability are affected. Replacing the relevant parts restores normal rotational movement.

Drivetrain and Undercarriage

Outer CV joint boots
The outer CV joint boots will be replaced. Torn boots allow grease to leak out, accelerating wear in the joint. Replacing the boots and replenishing grease restores proper protection.
Engine mounts MT
The engine mounts will be replaced. Deteriorated rubber increases engine movement and vibration. Replacing them with new parts stabilizes engine support.

Other

  • Dust boot (striking)

Engine Area

Chain case gasket
The chain case gasket and oil seal will be replaced. Since deterioration can cause oil leaks, the area is disassembled and the seals are replaced to restore proper sealing.
Chain slider pad
The chain slider pad will be replaced. Wear can make chain contact and movement unstable, causing abnormal noise and further wear. Replacing the part stabilizes the movement.
Ignition coil
The ignition coil will be replaced. Deterioration can reduce ignition voltage and cause poor engine running, so it is replaced with a new part to restore ignition performance.

Other

  • Original air cleaner
  • Spark plugs
  • Chain case oil seal

Clutch

Clutch release inner kit
The clutch release inner kit will be replaced with a high-quality Japanese-made item. Internal wear parts are replaced to restore proper hydraulic operation.

Brakes

Caliper seal kit (12-inch)
The caliper seal kit will be replaced. Deteriorated internal seals can cause malfunction, so the caliper is disassembled and the seals are replaced to restore function.
Caliper split seals
The caliper split seals will be replaced. To prevent leakage from the split section, the seals are replaced to restore proper sealing.
Stainless pistons
Because the original steel pistons are prone to rust, they will be replaced with stainless-steel pistons. Deterioration or sticking of the pistons can impair brake operation, so replacement restores smooth movement.
Brake pads (12-inch) Borg & Beck
The brake pads (12-inch / Borg & Beck) will be replaced. Wear and age-related deterioration can reduce braking performance and cause abnormal noise, so they are replaced with high-quality new Borg & Beck pads to improve braking stability.
Rotors (12-inch)
The rotors will be replaced. Wear or warping can reduce braking performance, so replacement ensures stable braking force.
Retaining pins
The retaining pins will be replaced. Age-related deterioration and wear can reduce brake-pad retention and cause abnormal noise, so new pins are installed to ensure proper fixing and stable brake operation.
